The Port of Port Vila provides a pilotage service for all vessel for over 250tons vessel unless the master has a pilotage exemption certificate entry and exit to the port is provided through an arrival and departure window

Aids To Navigation

Aids to navigation service provisions is managed by the Department of Ports and Harbor under the direction of the competent of authority (CA), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities.

 

Port Dues Tariffs

On-going vessel calling to Port Vila are subjected to port dues charges, which are determined by the size of the vessel (per 100 gross tonnage), length of stay (calculated by 24-hours block) and purpose of call.

Line Handling Fees

These are fees to be paid in respect of the handling of vessel lines at any government wharf, or if requested at any other wharf, for vessels berthing and unberthing depending on a vessel's length.

The Department of Ports and Marine, which is under Ministry of Infrastructure & Public Utilities, is responsible for the implementation of the Shipping and Ports Acts which regulates the Republic of Vanuatu's Ports of Entry, interior ports, the role of harbourmasters who oversee those ports and additional related aspects of maritime operations within the country.
