The Department of Ports and Marine is mandated under the Port Act Capt 26 to give directions regulating the time and manner for vessel to enter or go out of Port.
Section 7. Powers of Harbormaster
It shall be lawful for the harbormaster to give directions regulating the time and manner in which any vessels shall enter into, go out of or lie in the port, and the position, mooring, unmooring, placing or removing of any vessels within the same.
- As we are in the cyclone season the Department of Ports Issue Instruction to all Owners, Operators and masters or vessels to seek safe refuge in other Ports or Bay 72 hours before is imminent (hit) Port of Port Vila and Port of Luganvile
- Department advises that Master's and Owners to use all available means of information to monitor and analyze the Cyclones movement to make safe and good judgement to proceed out of Port of Port Vila and Port of Luganvile in amble time.
- Also, the Department request all owners and masters to have in place a cyclone plan, and other ports of opinion to seek shelter. Must submit cyclone plan to the Department if you wish to remain in the Port of Port villa and Port of Luganvile during any cyclone the hits.
- All vessels to depart Ports Vila and Port of Luganvile harbor in day light hours 0600hr to 1700hr (following quarantine restriction)
- Department of Ports will not liable or held responsible for any damages incurred to your vessel in the time.of your departure from Port Vila or at your safe anchorage bay.
